Message from the Board – Jeff Alt, President
As a reminder, the golf course property at Carolina Shores is privately owned. Dog walking, hiking, riding your private golf cart on the cart path, and fishing in the ponds is prohibited without express permission from the management. See Philip at the golf course clubhouse if you have further questions. Please do not use the golf course bathrooms or trash cans to leave your dog poop.
Mowing season is upon us. Please be aware of the town workers mowing beside the roadways.
NOTE: A residence may not be leased or rented for a term less than twelve (12) consecutive months and can only be rented or leased to one (1) tenant(s) for that period of time.
You should always walk facing traffic. This allows you to see passing cars before they get to you. This is just the opposite of riding a bicycle. You should always ride with the flow of traffic. WALKERS and BIKERS, when a vehicle approaches, PLEASE, go to single file along the side of the road. Staying side by side is dangerous for you and the driver.
THANK YOU TO OUR BULLETIN EDITORS LINDA RUGG, MERRILEE BURNS and MARY KELEIGH

The Lord's Pantry/Porch – Frank Pritchett
Thanks to the members of our community,
108 pounds of food was collected for distribution to the needy. This
brings our total collection to 582.6 pounds for March thru May.
Collections for June will be received at the POA clubhouse in the bins by the front door. The cut off date for June will be Wednesday, June 12.
Water Aerobics – Judy Chicka and Paula Guenther
Water aerobics is Monday through Friday
from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. There is a one-time fee of $10.00.
Book Discussion Group – Susie Riggs
The
Book Discussion Group met on Friday, May 17. Our selection for the month was Go
As A River by Shelley Read. The beautifully written novel, set amid Colorado’s wild
beauty, is the heartbreaking coming-of-age story of a resilient young woman whose
life is changed forever by one chance encounter. This compelling story set the stage
for an engaging conversation among our members that centered on topics such as
prejudice, the pain of displacement, and the importance of home and family.
Our next meeting will be held on Friday, June 21 at 10:00 a.m. in the large meeting room of the POA clubhouse. Our book for the month is Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue.
Tennis – Joyce Disano
Join us for
open tennis starting at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Carolina
Shores tennis courts. Wear proper court shoes. Hope to see you there.
Garden Club – Happy Mullen
The end of the year luncheon, coordinated
by Ellen Pecina, was held at Brunswick Plantation on May 8. The food was
delicious, and the room was lovely with flowers on the tables and a lovely view
of the golf course. Scholarships were awarded to four deserving seniors from
South Brunswick High School. Happy Mullen was inducted as President and Jenny
Kopec will be inducted as vice-president at the September meeting.
It was an eventful year for the garden club. We raised enough money for the four scholarships, auctioned off a quilt, and successfully experimented with a different type of fundraiser. Also, there is now a Carolina Shores Facebook page that Jenny Kopec created. Look for Carolina Shores Garden Club and enjoy pictures and some members’ gardens as well as garden club news.
The garden club welcomes new members. The meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in the POA clubhouse, and annual dues are $10. The first meeting of the 2024-2025 season will be September11. Meetings always include a guest speaker, a plant raffle and a social hour. In lieu of December and May meetings, there is a Christmas luncheon and a luncheon in May where the scholarships are awarded. Contact Happy Mullen at 240-354-4290 with any questions.
